My name is better than yours!

Howdy ya'll! This is K Syrah! from the dirty south, Hotlanta Ga. commenting on the G R E A T italian wine dinner in Charlotte NC. I also am a huge fan of the Primosic family pinot Grigios. The friuli p.g. is a perfect wine for the chard. drinkers looking to convert to the "un-oaked" side. It is creamy, rich and softer in style with less acidity than what u would normally expect from a p.g. and bursting with great fruit! The 2006 Primosic Collio Pinot Grigio is also another great example of the soft and rich creamy style of the friuli region fruit yet more complex and elegantly styled with racey, mouth-watering acidity and some minerality finishing of the everlasting finish. A must try! WOW! What more can I say about the Azelia wines from the near perfect winemaker, Luigi Scavino. He hails from the Piedmont region of italy excelling in Barolo's! Please do yourself a favor and try ANY of his beautifully crafted wines ranging from the softer styled barbera's with a ton of fruit, great acidity and lower tannic structure, making this wine perfect for ALL occasions, to the 2003 San Rocco single vineyard Barolo. What a treat today and I'm sure even better ten years from now! Violets, berries, and spice reign supreme on the nose, followed by nearly sweet plum and cherry on the palate with some serious yet velvety tannic structure making the finish.....hell, I'm STILL tasting it a month later!! These wines are unforgettable! Well, dinner is callin'! Hope you enjoy!

Till next time,

Italian Wine Dinnner

So I went to my first wine dinner and luckily it was the Italian one... Or was I so lucky? Overall the wines were really good but Iano Di Grazia(probably spelled that wrong) was a train wreck when he spoke to us about the producers he finds for Vin Divno. I sat there feeling embarrassed for the company it was so bad! The poor producers from Italy didn't say a word and if they could understand any English at all I am sure they weren't too happy. Did any one else feel the same way? I felt like he had no idea how to describe the difference between Babaresco and Barolo. Then he tried to explain the difference between the vineyard sites and that was even more confusing. I wish he would've just explained about himself and then just let the producers talk to us using him a a translator..especially for the Q&A!!

Alfio was cool and he made much more sense talking about the wines from Tuscany and the North East.

Which wines made an impression? I thought the Armani Corvara and Primosic Pinot Grigio's were really nice! I never thought pinot grigio could have body and mouthfeel like they did. Great fruit as well!. The Stars of the evening for me were the Moccagatta Barbaresco's!! The 2004 wasn't closed at all..To me it had amazing soft blackberry with baking spices and a touch of vanilla. The 2001 showed completely different with dark cherry, rose petal and tar on the nose with plum, vanilla and spice in the mouth. I thought the tannin was smooth not overwhelming the fruit on the finish.

Maybe this was a one off situation as far as the speakers were concerned but the wines were great and to be honest that is why we All strap on the tourniquet!! Ha Ha! It was also nice to meet more people from my region of the company. Till next time..

Cheers!

Wine for Nascar Fans

I just wanted to tell everyone that i think Bubbly is a great pre-race tailgating beverage. I really don't care what the rednecks around me think. I always tell everyone to drink what you like. Bubbly and hot dogs go great.
